The Family Vacation: Finishing the Distillery

Gary’s goal to have the distillery at Highland Flats operational by January 6 was met two days early! And the Young Family had their “vacation,” working and playing together over the Christmas holidays.
We had Christmas morning in a little cabin, 16 by 20. Yeah, things haven’t changed much. However, it didn’t have a dirt roof. But what you see in this picture is the result of that Christmas. We worked so hard.
We only had maybe five or six presents that we shared as a family Christmas morning. After I cooked breakfast and we opened our presents, we went to the distillery and worked; and that night we watched a movie in the cabin. Jacob crawled up beside me on the bed where we were watching a movie and said, “Dad, this is the best Christmas we’ve ever had.”
I set my goal for January 6 because we had members coming on January 6, and guess what—we fired the distillery and distilled on January 4, two days before schedule.
