Legacy Gary Member Stories – Groundbreaking Ceremony
Since Gary Young’s passing, we have put a lot of thought into how to continue the D. Gary Young blog. We wanted to foster a stalwart commitment to Gary’s legacy, so we asked members to think of a fond memory of their time working with him on projects, on travels, at one of the farms, or in another setting, to share those memories with you.
Here is a memory from Donna G.:
In May of 2017, I attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Young Living Headquarters. At the end of the ceremony, Gary allowed a few people to get up on the large backhoe to dig a bit more dirt where he had taken a few scoops. I was fortunate to be standing in a spot where Gary lovingly helped me up into the seat of that big machine. He talked to me like a father would, telling me what to do in a very gentle manner and then raised his voice a little when I moved the scoop too fast and far, which made us both laugh.
Gary always made me feel like the only person in the world when he talked to me. Afterward, we stood around in a group talking and laughing with his arm over my shoulder.
I know that day meant so much to Gary because of the ceremony, and it means even more to me with the time I was able to spend with him.
Thanks for this opportunity!
