Legacy Gary Member Stories – Wild West Fun

Since Gary Young’s passing, we have put a lot of thought into how to continue the D. Gary Young blog. We wanted to foster a stalwart commitment to Gary’s legacy, so we asked members to think of a fond memory of their time working with him on projects, on travels, at one of the farms, or in another setting, to share those memories with you.

Here’s one such memory from

Sally V.:

Thank you for the opportunity to share my fun stuff! In 2010 we got to participate in Farm Day by making butter, selling bread, enjoying flowers, and shooting guns.

Gary loved old coaches and the Wild West at our Lavender Farm in Mona. There is always a skit in the Western village of a shoot-out with guns, horses, coaches, wagons, and members being part of the cast.

We were invited to be in the show and got to go to the costume room and pick out our clothes. Such fun! We were storekeepers in the village and had various articles to carry and sell.
