The Beauty of Sacred Mountain
EDITOR’S NOTE: Since Gary Young’s passing, we have been taking stock of the tremendous contributions he made to the world by revisiting his presentations, such as this fascinating blog post series on essential oils as ways for people to connect with nature and to use as natural remedies, originally published in 2012. This is the second of a two-part series.
Besides Transformation, which I talked about last week, another beautiful essential oil blend that I really like sharing is Sacred Mountain. It was one of my early blends after I made Valor. Why? Because at that time, I was living in the city, and I missed my mountains, so I felt the best way to bring my mountains to me was to create a blend called Sacred Mountain.
For me, the mountains are God’s living room. When I need to have quiet time to just think, brainstorm, connect, listen, get information, and download, I go to the mountains.
Anciently, people believed that the great trees were the antennae of the earth, and that they would bring information to the earth from the atmosphere, the universe, the divine Creator, the Great Spirits, or whatever they were called. If you went and laid under a tree, the ancient people believed you could absorb this information.
THE OILS IN SACRED MOUNTAIN
I have always felt very close to the trees; I love them. So I chose Spruce and Balsam Fir as the two powerful oils of the conifers to bring that connection to me.
In addition, I wanted to balance the yin and yang, the male or masculine energy with the female or feminine energy, so I added a little Ylang Ylang to the energy of the conifers.
I also wear Sacred Mountain as an aftershave and a deodorant. I love it and it’s really special when you use it with Transformation. I believe Balsam Fir may support general wellness in the body and is very powerful in restoring balance. It’s found in the Sacred Mountain essential oil blend.
Spruce is also in Sacred Mountain. The North American native people believed that spruce was the anchor to the soul, to the God of the world. They would use it in smudge sticks, and they would breathe the aroma as the smudge sticks of the spruce would burn, much like the prairie people did with sage. They would anoint their whole bodies and brush stroke the smoke over their bodies, similar to what the ancient people did with the smoke from burning frankincense resin.
The Arabian people did not have conifers, but they had frankincense that gave off a smoke when burned. They would put this over their whole bodies; they would fumigate their homes with it; they would fumigate their clothes with it at night to kill the ticks, fleas, and pests; and they would use it to get rid of the odors from body and camel sweat.
The ancient people here in America primarily used spruce or sage for the same reason. It is so amazing how this knowledge existed on every continent and in every country in the world, but the people used the elements that existed in their country.
So if you haven’t ever used Sacred Mountain, get acquainted with it and incorporate it into your oil usage.
Another oil blend that was a gift to me from my sweetheart is called The Gift. It has almost all of the oils of Arabia in it–Sacred Frankincense, Jasmine, Myrrh, Vetiver, and Cistus, plus Balsam Fir [Balsam Canada] and Black Spruce.
We added Idaho Balsam Fir [Balsam Canada] to The Gift because I believe that God put a plant on each continent to serve the same purpose in each one, and I believe that Idaho Balsam Fir was a tree that would provide the same benefits to the human body as the gileadensis balsam in Arabia in ancient times, which is often referred to as the Balm of Gilead.
All of the oils in The Gift are very supporting, very beautiful, and very helpful.
ANOTHER TRANSFORMATIVE OIL: OCOTEA
For several years I have been studying the Ecuadorian oil Ocotea, which has an aroma and taste similar to Cinnamon. We produce this oil at the Young Living farm in Ecuador from the leaves of the ocotea tree.
This beautiful oil can be inhaled or applied topically. Many people like to drop 1 to 3 drops of Ocotea under their tongue, and I’ve been told that it helps with some food cravings. You all know how “hot” Cinnamon essential oil is because it contains nearly 50 percent trans-cinnamaldehyde. Well, Ocotea has that cinnamon flavor and some of its actions but with less than 10 percent trans-cinnamaldehyde.
In Ecuador, Ocotea is called “false canella,” meaning “false cinnamon.” Yes, Ocotea is a close cousin to Cinnamon, but it also has high levels of the constituents alpha-humulene and beta-caryophyllene, which have many important benefits.
The other new oil that many of you may not have heard of from the farm in Ecuador is Dorado Azul. Ocotea and Dorado Azul are gaining a lot of recognition now and are coming to the forefront very quickly as we see their benefits.
Ocotea contains high levels of which is a compound found in various plant materials and, of course, in a higher concentration in oils. Beta-caryophyllene is an amazing sesquiterpene.
Dorado Azul contains eucalyptol as well, which means that this is an oil that supports the respiratory tract. Dorado Azul is very powerful and the effectiveness of it is almost magical. The results that our clients at the clinic have seen have been wonderful, and now individuals out in the field are experiencing them too.
Another thing that we see with Dorado Azul, especially when combined with SclarEssence, is that it contains a lot of hormone-balancing compounds, one of which is alpha-fenchol. A lot of the women here in America, who I hear from mostly, are finding that Dorado Azul is giving them a great support in normal hormone function.
You might want to try applying it topically or diffusing it. You can find lots of opportunities to enjoy it.
GOD’S NATURAL MEDICINES: ESSENTIAL OILS
When you see and experience things as I have for the nearly 30 years that I have been working in this field of natural health—28 years specifically with essential oils—traveling the world to source, build distilleries, build farms, extract, learn to operate a GC and interpret the analysis, there is no question in my mind that there is a God in heaven.
These oils truly are, without question, His medicines, His natural remedies. This is the future of medicine. However, when it comes to an injury or an organ transplant, of course there’s no better place to be than in the hands of skilled medical physicians.
But when it comes to dealing with sickness, we’re still in archaic times. God has given us these tools; He’s given us the answer to strengthen our systems so we can fight the diseases and sicknesses that exist on this planet. But it is up to us to seek and search. As it says in the Bible, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Matt. 7:7 KJV). The knowledge is there if we look for it, and if we ask and go with prayer in our heart, we will be directed.
These things have and will come to us, and it is our responsibility to share what we have found with the world. That’s why in 2012, we set our goal to become a household word throughout the world.
Thank you for joining us in this opportunity to be part of the greatest adventure in modern times, the embracing of Young Living Essential Oils and being part of the company that is the world leader in essential oils and is changing the world one person at a time.
